Aimed at students in the 2nd and 3rd cycle of Basic and Secondary Education, the competition annually presents the categories of Writing (poetry, prose, or essay in Portuguese) and Illustration, and creative young people should be inspired by Sophia’s works.
In this joint initiative of the municipal libraries of Lagos and Loulé, the objective is to celebrate the work of one of the greatest figures of Portuguese culture, while encouraging reading and stimulating the imagination and creativity of Algarve students. Taking advantage of the celebrations of World Book Day (April 23), the award ceremony for the 17th edition of the Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen Literary Contest will take place on April 22, at 4.30 pm, at the Municipal Library of Lagos.
